This gentle plant carries much value, and a powerful story - one that reminds us of strength, perseverance, and love for community.
The small white lady slipper is now considered vulnerable under the endangered species list. Its biggest threat is habitat loss. They grow in a few areas, primarily wetlands. The small white lady slipper has been disappearing across ‘Ontario’ because of development, as well as invasive species and irresponsible collectors.

The Wetlands of this territory are vital to the health and well-being of so many. They are crucial to the functioning of our waterways. More importantly, they are home to millions of species. Among them, over seven thousand plant species. Here in 'Ottawa', many Wetland areas are under threat of being paved over to accommodate housing.
